New Caimen Running in the Nasty

I took my kids out on the Caimen today in Biscayne Bay to put the last few hours on the motor for the break in period. I ran across the bay towards Elliot Key and stopped at the sand bar for a few quick pics. As i was leaving the sand bar i looked to the west and saw a gray wall of rain moving in my direction. As it got closer i realized that it wasn’t rain it was the leading edge of a cold front. Suddenly the wind picked up to 20 mph and the seas were a NASTY 2 foot with 3 footers mixed in. I had a 10 mile run back to the marina so i figured i should start heading back before it gets any worse. I pointed the Caimen towards the marina and before i could get going we took 3 foot waves over the bow. The water in the cockpit was up to my ankles but it immediately drained into the bilge and was pumped out in a matter of seconds. I then hit the throttle and started running into the nasty conditions. I was completely amazed how the Caimen was slicing through the waves and keeping us dry! It seamed that the faster i would go the better she would ride. I ended up cruising at 30 mph and when i arrived at the marina i thought to myself

Thank God we were in a CAIMEN because we would of been beat to SH*T in any other skiff.  Man i LOVE this skiff!!!
